Norman’s First Baby of 2024 Rings in the New Year

The Norman Regional HealthPlex welcomed its first baby born in 2024 at 10:58 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024.

Proud parents Haitao Liu and Li Dong of Norman celebrated the birth of their third child, a girl named Jenny. Jenny was named after a character from her siblings’ favorite cartoon!

The family was given a welcome gift from Norman Regional and its Auxiliary of volunteers that included a stuffed animal, socks, and blankets.

The Norman Regional HealthPlex is home to the Women’s and Children’s Pavilion which features Labor and Delivery, an Obstetrical Emergency Department (OBED), Mother and Baby Care, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and a pediatric unit. It is located off Interstate 35 and Tecumseh Road in Norman, OK.

Last year, HealthPlex’s OBED (Obstetrical Emergency Department) received first-in-the-nation accreditation by CIHQ (Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality) as a Center of Excellence. This distinction marks the first time a health system anywhere in the country has been recognized for obstetrical emergency care.

The Norman Regional HealthPlex is the only hospital that delivers babies in Norman and Moore.
